Every setting explained

This page goes through every setting on the deploy page, in the order the app asks for them, and says which ones are permanent. Labels in bold are exactly what you'll see in the app.

Most settings are written into the token itself when it launches. That's what makes them trustworthy for investors, and it's also why they can't be changed later. Listing details and the price are the exception: they live on VestaScan and you can edit them at any time.

Who can hold this token?

Approved investors only or Open to anyone. This decides which kind of token is launched and what controls are available. Permanent. See Choose a token type.

Wallet

Choose the deploying wallet. Only shown if your account has more than one wallet. The wallet you choose launches the token and permanently owns it: it's the wallet you'll use to approve investors, issue tokens and use every other control. Permanent.

Identity

SettingWhat it meansAfter launch
Token nameThe full name people see in wallets and on your token page. Must be unique on VestaScan. Can't be changed
Token symbolThe short abbreviation shown next to balances. Must be unique on VestaScan. Can't be changed
Decimals (open tokens only)How finely one token can be divided. Wallets use it to show balances. The default suits most tokens. Can't be changed

Availability is checked as you type, but a name and symbol are only held for you once you select Deploy token.

Supply

SettingWhat it meansAfter launch
Initial supplyHow many whole tokens are created now. They start in the deploying wallet.Fixed
MintableWhether you can issue more tokens later. If it's off, the supply is fixed forever at the initial figure. Can't be changed
Maximum supplyShown when Mintable is on. The most tokens that can ever exist, at least the initial supply. On an open token, 0 means no limit. Can't be raised or lowered

If you choose no limit on an open token, the app warns you: anyone looking at the token will see that more can be created without limit.

Controls

Each control is a power you keep over the token. It's permanent, and it's listed on the token's public page so holders know about it.

SettingWhat it means
RevocableLets you take tokens back from a holder without their consent, for example after they lose access to their wallet or because of a legal order. Marked High risk in the app. On an approved-investors token, recovered tokens can only go to an approved wallet.
BurnableLets tokens be permanently destroyed, which reduces the supply. In the app, you burn tokens held in your own wallet from the token's Supply tab.
Pausable (open tokens only)Lets you stop every transfer at once, as an emergency stop.

Always included on approved-investors tokens: the approved investor list, lock-up dates per investor and the pause switch. They aren't settings, so you won't see switches for them.

On open tokens: no other controls can be added after launch.
